pet keeps the commands you cannot remember and would rather not retype:
the find with six flags, the docker run with the right mounts, the
awk that counts status codes in a log. Each is saved once with a
description, and pet exec finds it by that description through fzf,
fills in any <name=value> parameters, and runs it.
Snippets are a TOML file, so they go in git or a dotfiles repo, and they
can be synced through a GitHub Gist or a GitLab snippet. A parameter can
carry a default, or a list of choices to pick from. A snippet manager
earns its place when it is quicker than shell history: pet exec is one
command, it searches by meaning rather than by the exact characters
typed, and a shell function can put it on a key.
The demo opens in a folder with a web server log and a small project,
and a few snippets saved for them. Run pet list to see them, then pet exec, type status and press Enter to run the one that counts HTTP
status codes. pet exec -q todo has a parameter with choices; pet new
saves one of your own. The VM is private to your browser tab; nothing
you type leaves it.
